Kirby Medical Center, an independent, not-for-profit hospital located in Monticello, Illinois, recently embarked on a major construction project to enhance patient care and accessibility. Improvements included a new MRI suite to replace a mobile unit, expanded orthopedic and primary care areas, a new pediatric therapy gym, larger lab and phlebotomy spaces, and a more welcoming check-in area.

To communicate these exciting developments, the organization enlisted Chartwell Agency to create an 8-page self-mailer that would provide updates on the thoughtful planning and investments Kirby is making to build a healthier community.

Solution

Working closely with the client, Chartwell conceptualized and produced a mailer that captured the project’s vision and impact. We provided full creative support, including content development, design, and project coordination, ensuring the piece reflected the organization’s trusted brand and compassionate mission.

Through approachable language, inviting design, and graphic elements that reflected the warmth of the care environment, the final piece conveyed progress, optimism, and excitement for how the improvements will affect the people Kirby serves.

Strategy

Our strategy centered on three key goals:

  • Educate the Community. Clearly communicate the scope of the construction project and its benefits in an engaging and easy way.
  • Reinforce Trust and Transparency. Demonstrate that Kirby Medical Center was thoughtfully planning for the community’s long-term health needs and investing in local access to advanced care.
  • Honor the Brand. Align every visual and written element with the organization’s established brand standards, ensuring the mailer was a natural extension of their ongoing communication efforts.

Outcomes

The result was an 8-page mailer that effectively shared the story of transformation, showing not just what was being built, but why it mattered. Delivered directly to community households and as an online version on Kirby’s website, the piece served as both a progress update and a reaffirmation of Kirby’s commitment to quality, accessibility, and patient-centered care.
