Help! I don’t have time to be “social” on my social media pages.

While it is without a doubt one of today’s most powerful marketing tools, social media can also be among the most taxing. Businesses and organizations of all sizes are constantly working to maximize the benefit of their social media accounts to enhance engagement with followers.

However, engaging with followers on a regular basis can be a time-consuming and potentially daunting task, especially for small businesses with limited staff or organizations run by volunteers. Often, we find ourselves so consumed with other aspects of our job that we don’t have enough time or energy to dedicate to developing and maintaining an engaging social media presence.

In simplest terms, we just don’t have time to be “social” on social media. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

The most successful social media content will engage audiences and showcase the personality of your company, organization, product or brand. Content should be valuable, consistent and, well, social. One thing it shouldn’t be? A chore.

So how can you minimize the time it takes to engage with your followers and still showcase your brand’s personality at the same time? Here are a few quick-hit ways you can drive engagement on your social media pages, quickly and authentically:

Ask questions. Ask specific questions that will encourage a response from followers. This shows that you value your followers’ opinion and feedback. Plus, you’ll likely gain valuable insight from their responses!

For example: “We’re creating a new menu and want to make sure we include your favorite meals – what dishes should we absolutely include in our new menu?”

Share an exciting success story. People relate to people, so whenever you have a happy customer or a client success, share it on social media. You already have the story, just share it!

For example: “For years, John struggled with back pain. After visiting our clinic, he saw a great improvement in his mobility and is currently training for a marathon. Way to go, John!”

Post videos or stream live. Videos are proven to get more interactions on social media than any other kind of post, so be sure to take advantage of this tactic. Cell phone videos are perfect for social media, so grab your phone, and start recording!

For example: “Today is Shred Day at our bank. Shredding is done on-site to ensure safe disposal of your personal documents. Here’s proof! (show documents going directly into shredder). Stop by today!”

Post photos of your staff or volunteers. Why? Because showing the faces behind your brand make you more appealing and relatable.

For example: “We’re excited to announce that Peggy has been promoted to Customer Service Manager. Peggy has been with us for seven years and loves volunteering in the community. Next time you’re here, be sure to stop by and say hello to Peggy.”

Engaging with your followers is a great way to build your brand, and you can do it by sharing the wonderful stories and events already happening at your business or organization every day.
