The Key to Successful Messaging: Find Your Voice

successful messaging bullhorn

Recently, we were sitting around the table in our conference room discussing a messaging facilitation our company led for a client. These facilitations help us formulate a message map that helps organizations successfully share their story. In the facilitation, we ask the group a super simple question, “What does your company do?” The question, as it turns out, is often more difficult than you would think. There were multiple people in the room and all had different answers. That sparked something in me. When it comes to successful messaging, what would my answer be to that same question about Chartwell? What is it that we do?

Go Deeper Than the Obvious

I mean there are the obvious answers. We offer extensive public relations services. We do truly meaningful facilitations and trainings. We are at the forefront of digital marketing. We offer crisis communication services. Our graphic designs and websites have won awards. We are the marketing experts for multiple industries. Our newly launched video services are growing rapidly. All of these are great points and would qualify as a legitimate answer, but I was still searching for my solution.

Reflection

For the next few days, I took time to reflect on what I thought it was that we do. I peeled away the obvious answers. I started focusing on watching and listening to how our team communicated our clients’ needs. On any given day I might work on six different accounts that have six different requirements, and six different audiences. That is when it hit me. I had the answer!

Find Your Voice

Chartwell gives our clients a voice. Our team of storytellers takes the time to get an understanding of who our clients are on multiple levels. For the last 20 years we have asked a ton of questions, really listened to what our clients were trying to communicate, and crafted successful messaging as a result. We take what we learn from them and translate that into an auditory and visual language. It is a language that is specific to them and best communicates to their target audience.
